Technomorphosis

workshop facilitated by Kalina Petrova, at the Royal School of Speech and Drama, 2019.

Join us on a journey of dance and self-exploration as we navigate our the human body as machine. Transformation is sometimes painful……the sound of bones and veins transforming into metallic prostheses, connected by wires…What is does our humanity taste like?

Our most human qualities will be: …questioned…abandoned…replaced…crushed…rediscovered…rebuilt…embraced. Merging our vibration with voices of electronic spirits…We will summon an alien presence within our bodies.

The cold breath of machinery…Crawling down my spine;Transforming my flesh,Consuming my blood;Inscribing truth yet unknown…My body resonates with wordsin an unknown language…Following commands of a creature of our making…Reaching death only as transitiona place of new possibilitya state of morphed sensationsa ritual dancesubmitted to sounds of electronic prayers.

We will explore auditory resonances as guiding forces for dance…
Submitting to the commands of the merciless beats…
Our bodies will discover the roots of feelings and emotions through post-phenomenological experimentation…
Our minds will bend the constructs of human existence…
Expanding to realms, beyond the one that we know.
We will search for the essence of our needs by connecting to the world beyond the human consciousness.
